New scan could clarify prostate cancer return when standard test fails

NCT ID NCT07569926

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special PET scan using fluciclovine can help doctors decide on treatment for men whose prostate cancer has returned after initial treatment, but whose standard PSMA PET scan was unclear or negative. About 142 men will receive the fluciclovine PET scan, and researchers will track whether the results lead to a change in their treatment plan. The goal is to improve decision-making when cancer recurrence is suspected.
