Stool test vs. scope: 4,000-Person trial could change cancer monitoring

NCT ID NCT06983639

First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study compares a yearly stool test (FIT) to a colonoscopy every few years for people who have had polyps removed. The goal is to see if the simpler test works just as well to catch new cancers or high-risk polyps. 4,000 adults who had an advanced polyp removed will be followed for several years. If FIT proves effective, it could make follow-up easier and more accessible for many patients.
