First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looks at whether firefighters' exposure to dangerous chemicals on the job raises their risk of developing early signs of blood cancers. Researchers will follow 300 firefighters aged 40-49 from the Charlotte Fire Department who have at least 5 years of experience. The goal is to understand how job-related exposures may lead to pre-cancerous conditions and eventually blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma.
