Cash for cuddles: study tests if money helps preterm babies thrive

NCT ID NCT06362798

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving weekly cash payments to low-income mothers of preterm infants helps them spend more time in the NICU. The goal is to see if this support increases breastfeeding and skin-to-skin care, which are good for baby health. About 420 mothers will take part across four hospitals. The study does not test a drug or cure, but aims to understand if financial help improves caregiving.
