Cash for quitting: study tests if paying both partners boosts success

NCT ID NCT06296849

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether offering financial rewards to both members of a couple who smoke helps them quit more effectively than standard care or rewarding only one partner. About 900 couples where both partners smoke daily will receive nicotine replacement therapy and some will also get cash incentives for staying smoke-free. The goal is to see which approach leads to more people quitting and staying smoke-free long-term.
