First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether high-intensity or preferred-intensity resistance training better improves quality of life in women with fibromyalgia. Participants will complete 16 supervised sessions of each type, with a washout period in between. Researchers will measure disease impact, mood, sleep quality, and anxiety to see which approach works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- resistance training (high-intensity vs. preferred-intensity)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward an optimal exercise intensity for managing fibromyalgia symptoms like pain, fatigue, and sleep problems.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 36 women, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise can sometimes temporarily worsen pain or fatigue.
