First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether high-intensity or preferred-intensity resistance training better improves quality of life in women with fibromyalgia. Participants will complete 16 supervised sessions of each type, with a washout period in between. Researchers will measure disease impact, mood, sleep quality, and anxiety to see which approach works best.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
resistance training (high-intensity vs. preferred-intensity)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward an optimal exercise intensity for managing fibromyalgia symptoms like pain, fatigue, and sleep problems.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 36 women, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise can sometimes temporarily worsen pain or fatigue.
