Scientists probe how fats sabotage insulin in muscle cells
NCT ID NCT03818178
Summary
This study aims to understand how different types of fats delivered to the gut affect muscle cells and contribute to insulin resistance, a key problem in obesity and type 2 diabetes. Researchers will compare two fat infusions (palm oil and Intralipid) against a saline control in 60 healthy, non-obese adults. They will measure how these fats are processed inside muscle cells and how they impact the body's ability to use insulin and sugar.
