One pill to rule them all? new combo tackles resistant hypertension
NCT ID NCT07259733
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a single daily pill containing three blood pressure medications can better control resistant hypertension compared to taking multiple separate drugs. Researchers will enroll 142 adults with high blood pressure that is not well controlled despite using 3 to 5 different medications. Participants will either switch to the triple-combination pill or continue their usual care, and blood pressure will be measured over 24 hours after 12 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Triple fixed-dose combination of perindopril, indapamide, and amlodipine
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a simpler, more effective way to control resistant hypertension, potentially reducing heart attack and stroke risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (142 participants) at a single center, so results may not apply broadly. The open-label design could introduce bias, and the simplified regimen may not work for everyone.
