AI timing trick could sharpen colonoscopy diagnoses

NCT ID NCT07158203

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether showing AI suggestions a few seconds later helps doctors make better decisions when diagnosing small colon polyps. Seventy endoscopists will watch 100 polyp videos, with some seeing AI advice right away and others seeing it after a delay. The goal is to see if the delay improves accuracy and how much doctors rely on the AI.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
CADx device (GI Genius) and behavioral intervention (delayed AI suggestion)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a better way for doctors to use AI during colonoscopies, potentially improving polyp diagnosis and reducing unnecessary procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study using videos, not real patients. The results may not translate to actual clinical practice, and the benefit of delaying AI suggestions is uncertain.
