Eye-Opening study: better glasses for down syndrome?
NCT ID NCT05059041
First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using eye drops to dilate (widen) the pupils helps measure vision more accurately for people with Down syndrome. 42 participants each got two pairs of glasses—one based on a dilated eye exam and one without dilation—and then compared which gave sharper vision. The goal was to see if dilation leads to better prescriptions for this group, who often have unique eye distortions.
