Scientists build 'Disease-in-a-Dish' to hunt for blindness cures

NCT ID NCT01432847

Summary

This study aims to understand and eventually find treatments for serious eye diseases that can lead to blindness, like macular degeneration. Researchers will collect simple samples like hair, skin, or blood from people with these conditions and from healthy volunteers. In the lab, they will turn these cells into stem cells to create eye tissue, allowing them to study how the diseases start and progress, and to test potential drugs.
