Sweat and surgery: new hope to stop nerve damage in obese patients

NCT ID NCT03617185

Summary

This study tested whether high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and weight-loss surgery could prevent or reduce nerve damage (neuropathy) in obese patients. Researchers followed 140 people from bariatric surgery clinics for two years, comparing a special exercise program to standard exercise advice. They measured nerve health through skin samples, eye scans, and various physical and cognitive tests to see if these lifestyle changes could protect the nerves.
