First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether combining aerobic and resistance exercise with protein supplements can improve muscle, strength, and quality of life in older adults with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). 110 people aged 60-90 took part. The goal was to see if this combination works better than either alone.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

protein supplementation, aerobic exercise, resistance exercise

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to help older adults maintain muscle and independence.

What could go wrong

This is a completed early-stage study with 110 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Diet and exercise changes can be hard to stick with long-term.
