Simple exercises may ease chronic back pain without drugs

NCT ID NCT07438470

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether combining two types of exercises—McKenzie extension exercises and motor control exercises—could help people with chronic non-specific low back pain. Fifty-four adults aged 45 to 70 with persistent pain for at least 3 months took part. The goal was to see if the combined program improved pain, spinal movement, muscle endurance, and daily function better than either exercise alone.

What this could lead to

If successful, this combined exercise approach could offer a simple, drug-free way to reduce pain and improve daily function for people with chronic low back pain.
