Which exercise focus works best for kids with rheumatic conditions?
NCT ID NCT07138157
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two different exercise programs in 28 children and teens with rheumatic diseases like juvenile arthritis and familial Mediterranean fever. One program used external focus (thinking about the movement's effect), the other used internal focus (thinking about the body part moving). Both programs lasted 8 weeks with online and home sessions. The goal was to see which approach better improves physical fitness and reduces fatigue.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exercise training with internal or external focus
What this could lead to
If one focus strategy works better, it could point toward more effective exercise programs for children with rheumatic diseases to improve fitness and reduce fatigue.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 28 participants, so results may not apply to all children. The exercises were partly online, which may affect consistency.
