App-Based exercise program aims to ease arthritis symptoms in underserved patients

NCT ID NCT07642622

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a mobile app called ExerciseRx can help people with axial spondyloarthritis (a type of arthritis affecting the spine and joints) exercise more and improve their symptoms. Forty adults who are not very active will either use the app for guided exercises and step goals or continue their usual care. Researchers will measure how easy the app is to use and whether it leads to better physical function and less disease activity over 12 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
ExerciseRx app with guided home exercises and step-count goals
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a practical, low-cost way for people with axial spondyloarthritis to manage symptoms through exercise, especially those with limited access to care.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 40 participants. The app may not be easy to use for everyone, and any symptom improvements may be modest or not last beyond the 12-week study period.
