Summary

This study tested whether exenatide, a drug used for diabetes, can help people quit smoking and prevent the weight gain that often happens after quitting. 140 adults who smoked at least 5 cigarettes daily and wanted to quit took part. They received either exenatide or a placebo along with a nicotine patch. The main goals were to see if exenatide improved quit rates and reduced weight gain at 12 weeks.
