New heat therapy for pancreatic lesions tested in 100-Patient registry
NCT ID NCT07136324
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tracks 100 people with pancreatic cysts or tumors who receive a treatment called endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA). A thin needle delivers heat directly to the lesion to destroy it. Researchers will monitor how well the procedure works and any side effects over 7 years. The goal is to see if this minimally invasive approach can be a safe alternative to surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- radiofrequency ablation (RFA) delivered via an endoscopic ultrasound-guided catheter
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that EUS-guided RFA is a safe and effective way to treat pancreatic cysts and tumors without major surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage registry, not a controlled trial, so results may not prove effectiveness. There are also standard risks like bleeding, infection, or damage to nearby organs.
