Scientists examine old baby biopsies to unlock birth defect clues
NCT ID NCT06073158
Summary
This study aimed to understand how long-term storage affects tissue samples used for research on esophageal atresia, a birth defect where the esophagus doesn't form properly. Researchers compared the molecular signatures of tissue samples taken from six babies during their initial surgery with samples taken later in their first year of life. The goal was to see if storage time changes what scientists can learn from these valuable samples, which could help future research understand the causes of this condition.
