Nerve-Repair injection shows promise for wrist pain

NCT ID NCT06328166

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether an injection of ES135, a lab-made version of a natural growth factor, could help people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Twenty-four adults with confirmed CTS received either ES135 or a placebo injection guided by ultrasound. Researchers tracked changes in symptoms, hand function, and pain over six months to see if the treatment is safe and effective.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

ES135 (recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 1)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new injection-based treatment to ease pain and improve hand function in people with carpal tunnel syndrome.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 24 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and the treatment may not prove more effective than a placebo.
