New hope for rare bone cancer: experimental drug ERAS-601 tested alone
NCT ID NCT06957327
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new drug called ERAS-601 in 12 adults with advanced chordoma, a rare bone cancer that has gotten worse. The drug works by blocking a protein called SHP2, which may help slow or stop tumor growth. The main goal is to see if the drug is safe and can control the cancer for at least 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ERAS-601 (a SHP2 inhibitor drug)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for advanced chordoma, a rare bone cancer with limited therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small trial (12 people) testing safety and effectiveness. The drug may not shrink tumors or may cause side effects, and results may not apply to all chordoma patients.
