New RNA test could spot brain tumors without surgery
NCT ID NCT06575452
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether chemical marks on RNA molecules found in blood and urine can help diagnose gliomas, a type of brain tumor. Researchers will collect samples from 228 adults scheduled for brain surgery and compare them to healthy controls. The goal is to develop a non-invasive test that could improve diagnosis and monitor tumor changes without relying solely on MRI scans.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood or urine test to diagnose gliomas and track their progression without repeated MRIs.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage diagnostic study, not a treatment trial. The RNA markers may not prove accurate enough for clinical use, and results may not apply to all glioma types.
