First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study is testing a robotic system called Epione to help doctors place needles or instruments into the bones of the pelvis and spine. The goal is to see if the robot makes these procedures more feasible, safe, and accurate compared to doing them by hand. Sixty adults who are already scheduled for such procedures will take part, and the robot will assist with the needle placement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Epione robotic system
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could make bone procedures more precise and safer, potentially reducing complications.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early feasibility study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all patients or settings. The robot may not improve outcomes over standard freehand techniques.
