Summary
This trial tests whether epidural analgesia—pain medicine delivered near the spinal cord—can help people with severe acute pancreatitis breathe better and avoid needing a breathing machine. About 148 ICU patients with severe pancreatitis will be randomly assigned to receive either epidural pain relief or standard painkillers. The study measures how many days patients can breathe without a ventilator, aiming to see if the epidural approach reduces lung complications.
