Heart fat linked to pump problems in common heart failure

NCT ID NCT05068934

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at over 1,000 adults with a type of heart failure called HFpEF, where the heart pumps normally but is too stiff. Researchers measured the fat around the heart using ultrasound and checked how well the heart was working. The goal was to see if more heart fat is linked to worse heart function. No treatments were tested—only observations were made.
