Could a Week-Long heart patch catch more dangerous rhythms than a One-Day test?

NCT ID NCT06310707

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether wearing a small, waterproof heart monitor (ePatch) for 7 days finds more treatable heart rhythm problems than the usual 24-hour Holter monitor in people who have fainted. About 55 adults with fainting symptoms were randomly assigned to either the 7-day ePatch or a standard 24-hour monitor. The goal was to see if the longer monitoring period leads to more diagnoses that can guide treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

ePatch Extended Wear Holter (7-day heart monitor)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that longer monitoring with ePatch finds more treatable heart rhythm problems than the standard 24-hour test.

What could go wrong

The study was terminated early with only 55 participants, so results may be limited. Longer monitoring may also pick up harmless findings that lead to unnecessary worry or tests.
