Could a special chair replace kegels for Post-Surgery bladder control?

NCT ID NCT07580404

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether the Emsella chair, a non-invasive device that strengthens pelvic floor muscles, can reduce short-term stress urinary incontinence in men after prostate surgery for an enlarged prostate. Thirty men with moderate-to-large prostates will receive Emsella treatments before and after surgery. Researchers will track symptom scores and side effects to see if the chair helps speed recovery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Emsella chair (non-invasive device that strengthens pelvic floor muscles)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a non-drug, non-surgical way to speed up recovery from urinary leakage after prostate surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early study with only 30 people. It may not show clear benefit, and results may not apply to everyone with enlarged prostate.
