New schizophrenia drug emraclidine enters Mid-Stage trial
NCT ID NCT07145918
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 2 study tests an investigational drug called emraclidine in about 268 adults with schizophrenia. The trial has two parts: Part A looks at how the drug moves through the body and its safety at different doses, while Part B measures whether it improves symptoms like hallucinations and delusions compared to a placebo. Participants take either emraclidine or placebo tablets for up to 42 days and are followed for 30 days after the last dose.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
emraclidine
What this could lead to
If this trial succeeds, it could point toward a new treatment option for schizophrenia that helps control symptoms with a different mechanism than current drugs.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 study with a small number of participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not work better than placebo, and side effects are still being evaluated.
