Empathy training for cancer doctors aims to erase lung cancer stigma
NCT ID NCT05456841
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special training program can help cancer doctors communicate more empathetically with lung cancer patients. Many lung cancer patients feel judged or stigmatized during medical visits, which can harm their well-being and care. The training teaches doctors skills to reduce that stigma. Over 1,200 healthcare providers from across the U.S. will participate, and researchers will measure if doctors actually use these new skills in practice.
