Shock therapy before surgery boosts hand recovery, new trial hopes

NCT ID NCT05395715

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests if giving a mild electrical stimulation to the nerve just before surgery can speed up recovery for people with severe cubital tunnel syndrome (a pinched nerve in the elbow that weakens the hand). About 30 adults with severe nerve damage will receive either real or fake stimulation before their operation. The goal is to see if this simple addition helps more nerve fibers regrow and improves hand function.
