Brain waves vs. surgery stress: what happens inside?

NCT ID NCT06228729

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at how brain activity (measured by EEG) changes when a breathing tube is placed and when a surgical cut is made during abdominal surgery. Researchers measured stress hormones at the same time to see if they are linked. 52 adults having open abdominal surgery took part. The goal was simply to observe and understand these body responses, not to test a treatment.
