First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests a new device that slowly stretches the small intestine to make it longer in people with short bowel syndrome. The goal is to help the body absorb more nutrients and reduce the need for IV nutrition. The study includes 40 adults and children aged 3 months to 65 years who have at least 3 cm of remaining bowel. Researchers will check for side effects and measure if the intestine actually grows.
