Who does your ECG? study checks if Non-Doctor teams delay heart attack care

NCT ID NCT07144059

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether heart attack patients get to the hospital just as fast when a non-doctor team (like firefighters or paramedics) does the ECG compared to a doctor-staffed team. Researchers will review records of 350 adults who called emergency services in France between 2023 and 2024. The goal is to see if using non-doctor teams for ECGs affects how quickly patients receive treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that having non-doctor teams perform ECGs does not delay care for heart attack patients, potentially improving emergency response.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Differences in care times might be due to other factors, not just who did the ECG.
