Scientists investigate virus link to painful mouth condition
NCT ID NCT02276573
Summary
This small study aimed to understand if the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) plays a role in causing inflammation in painful forms of oral lichen planus, a chronic mouth condition. Researchers enrolled 13 adults with the condition to measure levels of the virus in affected tissue. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about what might trigger this disease, not to test a treatment.
