Timing of stent removal may cut pancreatic complication risk
NCT ID NCT07307248
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at adults with walled-off pancreatic necrosis (a complication of severe pancreatitis) who need a temporary metal stent to drain fluid. Researchers want to see if removing the stent earlier (at 2 weeks) and replacing it with a smaller plastic tube works better than waiting the usual 4 weeks to remove it. The goal is to lower the chance of fluid coming back or needing another procedure over the next year.
