Which feeding method works best after pancreatic necrosis drainage?
NCT ID NCT07395778
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether feeding through a tube into the small intestine is better than eating by mouth after a procedure to drain a pancreatic cyst caused by severe pancreatitis. About 50 adults with this condition will be randomly assigned to one of the two feeding methods. The goal is to see which approach leads to fewer infections, better nutrition, and shorter hospital stays.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors choose the best feeding method after pancreatic drainage, potentially reducing infections and improving recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not testing a new treatment, just comparing two standard approaches.
