Can eating sooner after colon surgery speed up recovery?

This study looks at whether starting a regular diet early after colorectal surgery helps the bowel work again sooner compared to the usual clear fluids. About 80 adults having large bowel surgery will be assigned to one of two eating plans. The goal is to see which approach leads to better food tolerance, fewer leaks from the surgical connection, and a shorter hospital stay.
