Summary

This trial investigates whether giving oral antibiotics before elective colorectal surgery reduces complications like infections and bowel leaks in children. About 74 children scheduled for procedures such as colostomy closure or pull-through for conditions like Hirschsprung disease will be randomly assigned to receive either oral antibiotics plus standard bowel preparation or standard preparation alone. Researchers will compare rates of surgical site infection, anastomotic leak, and length of hospital stay between the two groups.
