Summary

This study looked at whether having a doula—a trained birth supporter—helps Black mothers feel more heard and respected during pregnancy and childbirth. Thirty Black birthing people at the University of Kansas Medical Center took part. Researchers measured how well they felt they could talk with their doctors and their overall care experience. The goal was to learn if doula support can improve communication and quality of care.
