Scientists test old drug to unlock fatty liver mystery

NCT ID NCT05729282

Summary

This small, early-stage study aimed to understand if lowering high insulin levels could affect how the liver handles fat in people with fatty liver disease. For two weeks, 24 adults with overweight/obesity and insulin resistance took either a drug called diazoxide or a placebo. Researchers measured blood sugar, insulin, and fats to see if reducing insulin changed how the liver makes new fat.
