Scientists search for hidden clues to why diabetic moms have bigger babies

NCT ID NCT00639964

Summary

This study aimed to understand why babies born to mothers with diabetes are often larger, even when blood sugar is well-controlled. Researchers followed 186 pregnant women, including those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and those without, to see if specific fats in the mother's and baby's blood were linked to the baby's birth weight and body fat. The goal was to find new biological markers that could help guide future nutritional advice for diabetic pregnancies.
