Can sugar water help restore facial movement in stubborn Bell's palsy?
NCT ID NCT07728331
First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial investigates whether ultrasound-guided injections of dextrose (a type of sugar) around and into facial muscles can improve recovery in people with Bell's palsy that has not responded to standard care after three months. Thirty participants with moderate to severe facial weakness will receive the injections and be monitored for changes in facial function. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach can help when other treatments have failed.
