First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether adding dexmedetomidine to standard spinal anesthesia could reduce acute nerve pain after a leg amputation. Thirty adults having elective leg amputation took part. The experimental group received the extra drug, and researchers measured pain and block duration for 48 hours. The goal was to see if this approach lowers the chance of developing phantom limb pain.
