Rethinking routine allergy shots for IBD patients on infliximab

NCT ID NCT07385131

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with moderate-to-severe inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) need to routinely take dexamethasone (a steroid) before receiving infliximab to prevent allergic reactions. Researchers will compare those who get the pre-medication as usual with those who do not, aiming to reduce unnecessary drug use and tailor care to individual risk. About 300 participants aged 14 to 80 with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis will be observed over their first four treatments.
