Corneal polishing study aims to improve cell therapy for fuchs dystrophy

NCT ID NCT07539012

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether polishing the inner layer of the cornea before injecting new cells helps remove tiny bumps called guttae in people with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. Twenty adults scheduled for corneal transplant will have half their cornea polished and the other half left untreated. Researchers will compare how many guttae are removed on each side to see if polishing improves cell adhesion.
