Back pain vs. graft success: how long must you lie flat after eye surgery?
NCT ID NCT07373821
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares lying on your back for 1 day versus 5 days after a specific type of corneal transplant (DMEK) for Fuchs dystrophy. Researchers want to see if a longer period helps the transplant stay attached and reduces the need for extra procedures. About 102 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups and monitored with eye exams and movement sensors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a shorter period of lying on your back after corneal transplant is just as effective, making recovery more comfortable.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial focused on a procedural detail, not a new treatment. Results may not change standard practice and could show no difference between groups.
