Vitamin c may help preserve jawbone after tooth pull
NCT ID NCT06569264
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding vitamin C to a dentin graft helps preserve the width of the jawbone after a tooth is removed. 26 adults needing a single tooth extraction will receive either the graft with vitamin C or the graft alone. The main goal is to see if vitamin C reduces bone shrinkage, which could improve the site for future dental implants.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
autogenous demineralized dentin graft with i-PRF and vitamin C
What this could lead to
If it works, this could improve bone healing after tooth extraction, making it easier to place dental implants later.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 26 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Adding vitamin C may not provide extra benefit over the graft alone.
