One-Shade fillings could make cavity repairs quicker and cheaper
NCT ID NCT07289022
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares a single-shade flowable composite resin to a multi-shade composite for filling cavities in back teeth. Thirty adults with at least four cavities will receive both types of fillings and be followed for five years. Researchers will check how well the fillings match tooth color and how long they last.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dental composite resin (flowable monochromatic and polychromatic)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could simplify cavity treatment by using a single-shade material that blends naturally with teeth, reducing time and cost.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The materials may not match color as well as expected over time.
