Can body awareness therapy stop delirium in stroke patients?
NCT ID NCT07249619
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a new approach to prevent delirium (sudden confusion) in patients with a type of stroke called subarachnoid hemorrhage who are in the intensive care unit. The program combines standard medical care with basic body awareness therapy and video-based communication. Researchers will compare this to routine care alone in 34 patients to see if it reduces delirium and improves recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
biopsychosocial-based multimodal approach including basic body awareness therapy and video-based communication
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to prevent delirium in stroke patients in the ICU, potentially improving recovery and reducing hospital stays.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early trial with only 34 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The intervention is complex and may be hard to implement consistently.
