New study aims to spot hidden breathing risks in common heart procedure
NCT ID NCT07127900
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looks at a possible side effect of a heart treatment called Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) for atrial fibrillation. The treatment can sometimes injure the phrenic nerve, which controls the diaphragm muscle used for breathing. Researchers will use a special X-ray before and after the procedure to check for diaphragm problems. The study is observational, meaning no new treatments or risks are added, and the results will help make the procedure safer.
